Senza dubbio un grandioso documentario del mondo del surf alternativo. Va ben oltre le aspettative di chi cerca in simili documentari, i pionieri del surf di montagna o di fiume, del surf su onde artificiali e quant'altro. L'onda di piena sul Rio delle Amazzoni è davvero impressionante. Un documentario che merita di essere visto e rivisto per la splendida qualità delle immagini e la stupenda colonna sonora. Cito solo la canzone di chiusura, di Josh Ritter - Bright Smile.

La spedizione di quattro coraggiosi surfers parte qualche giorno prima della piena sigiziale, che forma onde in sequenza di più di tre metri dando la possibilità di surfare per kilometri e, stando al commento di uno dei quattro, un'onda sola per venticinque minuti. Si tratta di un fenomeno più unico che raro che si ripete solo due volte nell'arco dell'anno, con le due altemaree causate dalla luna piena. L'idea di quello che si nasconde sotto le torbide acque marroni del Rio delle Amazzoni è più terrificante dell'idea della forza della corrente e delle ondate che possono avere risvolti letali. Piranha, coccodrilli e una rara specie di pesce-gatto che si ciba di sangue e segue l'odore delle urine: uno stesso membro del gruppo afferma "...quindi muta molto stretta e mi asterrò dall'urinare in acqua"...
